A type of outsourcing in which services are delivered by a company with experience running a specific customer function. The firm contracts with the client not only to provide and manage workers (as in temporary staffing), but also to assume full operational responsibility for delivering the function — which is usually unrelated to the client's primary business — on a long-term basis.
